FOAM DENSITY
NATIONAL SPA COVERS, INC. uses Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) which is rated by its weight per cubic foot. The higher the rating, the stronger the foam. We only use VIRGIN BEAD FOAM, opposed to recycled foam, because it is much stronger though both may carry the same rating. We offer 1.5lb density in 4 to 2" taper and 5 to 3" taper foam cores.
COVER TAPER
NATIONAL SPA COVERS, INC. uses tapered foam from 4" to 2" for our standard model spa cover and 5 to 3" taper for our Super Heavy Duty spa covers. Taper is important on spas that are outdoors. The more exaggerated the taper, the better the run-off for rain and snow.
VAPOR
SEAL
NATIONAL SPA COVERS, INC. uses plastic tubing (6mil) that is linear in design, to prevent easy puncture and to keep water saturation to a minimum. The plastic tubing is hand heat sealed. Some other companies use only tape.
VINYL
NATIONAL SPA COVERS, INC. uses "SPAHYDE" vinyl specifically designed for spa covers. The vinyl we use is mildew, cracking and chlorine resistant. It has ultraviolet stabilized pigments. Our vinyl weights 29 oz per linear yard. WE OFFER 12 COLOR CHOICES!
THREAD
NATIONAL SPA COVERS, INC. uses premium polyester thread, other thread such as nylon or cotton will not hold up to the out side elements for an extended period of time.
HANDLES & TIE-DOWN STRAPS
NATIONAL SPA COVERS, INC. uses double reinforced handles and tie-down straps. The covers come standard with locking tie-down straps with slide release and screws for attachment.
